The Italian artist Fabio Viale humorously diverts the codes of traditional marble sculpture to give it unexpected shapes. Through impressive realism, he brings to his pieces the look of polystyrene, cardboard and paper.
His work aims at returning to marble—at times a material accused of being too classical—a new dynamic. Fabio Viale manipulates it, makes it soft, fluid even, to create a “new” material that adapts to the on-going evolutions of art.
