Fabian CERREDO

Apartense vacas que la vida es corta

Between 1984 and 1987

Oil on wood
Four panels 250 x 122 cm

This large four-panel work by Fabian Cerredo was one of the first artworks to be part of the RAJA – Art Contemporain Collection. Previously displayed on the company’s premises, it now has a prominent place in the new dining areas dedicated to employees. Fabien Cerredo is a Franco-Argentinian painter who trained at the Beaux-Arts de Paris after arriving in France from Buenos Aires in the 1980s. His work, often in large format, draws on themes related to spirituality, art history and mythology. Here, the title of the work can be translated as “Get out of the way, cows, life is short” (an expression that can be understood as an injunction to make the most of life). This is a reference to a passage in Gabriel García Márquez’s novel Cent ans de Solitude (1967), to which Cerredo has paid homage in many of his paintings.
