Flor
Enamel on low density foam
167 x 136,5 x 6 cm
Flor is one of Bruno Ollé’s recent experiments with polyurethane foam. These new works remain faithful to his artistic practice.
« Ollé often works with small, modular components that come together to form larger, layered structures. His shapes—half-moons, delicate branches, floating geometries—teeter between the playful and the poetic, between familiar symbols and abstract fragments. They suggest places or objects without ever pinning them down. »[1]
The foam he chose to use here is a poor, recycled material, often used in packaging, which is far from the perceived nobility of oil painting. It contributes to the lightness, both literal and figurative, that emanates from the work. The artist thus joyfully rejects the rigidity and symbolic and emotional weight that a work of art can represent, preferring to leave possibilities open and give free rein to our projections and intuitions.
