Yves HELBERT

The Attic

2009

Assembling wood and various materials
30 x 40 x 30 cm

The “boxes” of Yves Helbert, his small art space dioramas, are a universe of compartments and references where dual meaning stands out through connection between the original object and the reimagined object. A very personal geography goes from a scale to the next, transforming the extinguisher capsules and pencil sharpeners into works of art. Miniatures of Duchamp’s Bicycle Wheel, Warhol’s Brillo Boxes, Picasso’s Bull’s Head are all small tributes to the masters of the genre.
