There are nearly a hundred of these colorful miniature multi-builds, created by Michael Madrigali using a variety of materials, including painted cardboard. The buildings presented here draw inspiration from video games, animation, and the artist’s personal memories, echoing his paintings, which feature fragments of urban environments. It is the change of scale that dictates our position in relation to these works, which are a kind of false model of buildings that are both familiar and invented. Faced with these meticulously sculpted architectures, we suddenly have the opportunity to project fictions and personal stories, becoming architects, directors, or all-powerful divine figures ourselves.
