Vague à l’âme

2005

Huile cirée et pigments, collage sur toile
116 x 89 cm

For the background of her piece Vague à l’âme, (gluesize) pure colours were put together in a geometric fashion. Then, on this base, the artist built up the construction of an unstable, precarious shelter. And like in the majority of emerging countries, this construction was done with a collection of recovered material: corrugated iron sheets, wood planks, oil cloth, wattle and daub… For the artist “everything in Vague à l’âme is illusion” because it’s built from cardboard of varying thicknesses, ages and sources. Space, Relief, and the strength of colour are the three essential elements in the work of Noëlle Roudine.
