Daniel FIRMAN

Born in 1966 in Bron, France
Lives and works between Paris, France and New York , USA

His sculptures are nurtured with artistic practices such as performance, dance and installations. They have the particularity of rather being a summarized process than still representations. Whether represented or unrepresented, the body is everpresent in the process of creation but it is, above all, an analysis tool. The artist also takes advantage of the heritage of American Art of the 1960s and 1970s, especially Robert Morris’ and Bruce Nauman’s practices. These artists mixed the practice of performance and the re-use of experiences of minimalist sculpture that dealt with space. Daniel Firman questions the contexts in their physical, psychic or sociological dimensions.
