Arne QUINZE

Born in 1971 in Belgium
Lives and works in Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium and Shanghai, China

Arne Quinze began his career in the 1980s as a graphic artist, without having completed art school. He then embarked on the construction of large wooden structures in electric colours that he would install in city centres. In Black Rock City, Nevada, at the 2006 edition of Burning Man, Arne Quinze burned his sculpture Uchronia, a performance that marked the beginning of his fame. Other installations then went on to decorate the streets of Brussels (Cityscape and Sequence) and of other capital cities like the sculpture Rebirth that inhabited the foyer of the Royal Monceau Hotel in Paris in 2008 and Red Beacon in Shanghai’s Jing’an Park in 2010, which will be in place until 31 August 2020.
