MATERIAL DONATION – MILK MAGAZINE SET DESIGN – CARTE BLANCHE BY ALIX BORTOLI
The RAJA Collection is pleased to donate several corrugated cardboard sheets and cardboard boxes to Alix Bortoli, an artist and filmmaker, for the production of six videos as part of her carte blanche project for Milk Magazine x the French Federation of Children’s Fashion.
Alix Bortoli, assisted by Milena Krastev, drew inspiration from Jacques Massacrier’s book Savoir Revivre, published in the 1970s, which encourages people to live self-sufficiently in close harmony with nature.
As is customary in Bortoli’s work, the entire set design was created exclusively by hand. In these six filmed “lessons,” cardboard is transformed into a bee, a house, an egg, a plant, a watering can, a boat, and more, serving as the basis for giant pop-ups in which children interact with oversized objects, briefly becoming apprentice beekeepers or glassblowers.
