LOAN – “LES MONDES IMAGINAIRES”- GROUP EXHIBITION, ESPACE MONTE-CRISTO, FONDATION VILLA DATRIS
The RAJA Collection – Contemporary Art is delighted to lend three artworks for the exhibition Les Mondes Imaginaires, taking place at the Espace Monte-Cristo, the Parisian space of the Villa Datris Foundation, from April 13 to December 15, 2024 (curation and scenography: Pauline Ruiz and Jules Fourtine).
The exhibition also features a carte blanche to artist Jean-François Fourtou, who takes over the space with his immersive installation ‘La Famille des Hybridus.”
Eva Jospin’s Forêt 12 (2014), Nathalie Elemento’s Re-positionnable (2015) and Lorenz Estermann’s architectural model Lunch-House I (2009) find their place in this exhibition, which invites to imagine, explore and travel, both spatially and intimately.
“The Espace Monte-Christo plunges you into a narrative and poetic dimension with its new exhibition. Thanks to a selection of over 50 sculptures by French and international artists, Imaginary Worlds is an invitation to broaden your horizons through a dreamlike journey designed like a story in several chapters.
Peopled with strange animals, a mysterious forest spreads from the edge of an unfathomable city made up of houses and architecture fringed by a beach where, in the shadow of colourful palm trees, stands a makeshift hut. Climbing the steps to the first floor, you will be guided by a solar installation which extends this journey into the unknown. Witness to the history of the Collection, a curiosity cabinet evokes the adventure of an explorer who has visited the past exhibitions, like so many far-flung lands (…).
Whether personal or political, the works presented create a unique landscape which gently and delicately evokes the hopes and fears of our world in the making. Alternating tenderness and malice, the exhibition invites you to get back in touch with your childhood outlook to better question our era through stories, games and dreams, in the hope of imagining a possible future, to be built together.”
